Our Events
Events:We try to have a presence at most community events and festivals – Weekend in the Wilds, Christmas in the Wilds, Sizerville State Park Autumn Fest. Our signature event, in its third year, is our Pork & Cork event. Held each June at the Andrews Farm at Salt Run, this major fundraising event includes dinner, local brews and wines, live music, silent auctions, and so much fun – all for a great cause.
2016 Pork & Cork Scholarship Fundraiser :
In 2015 we established a scholarship for a local Cameron County High School student heading on to higher education. In 2016 we held our first Pork & Cork Scholarship Fundraiser event at the Andrews Farm just north of Emporium.
We had 5 great basket raffles (think moonshine, yoga, golf, honey/beeswax, and, of course, wine!), a 50/50, and 4 cash prizes throughout the night. Local home brewers and winemakers attended in addition to the wide variety of north central Pennsylvania wines and beers that were available. Dinner was by Jill and her staff at the Cabin Kitchen and music was provided by Two Guys Drinking Beer. Tickets sold out !!
We thank all the 200+ people who came out and attended our first annual scholarship event. We were completely overwhelmed with your compliments and generosity. We could not be happier with how it all came together. ❤️🐷. A beautiful day, a gorgeous location, delicious food, friends, family, townspeople, and all the others that traveled to the Andrews farm. 2017 Pork & Cork Scholarship Fundraiser:
We were just as excited to announce The Sylvan Heritage Council's 2017 annual Pork & Cork Scholarship Fundraiser, again held at the Andrews Farm June 17th, 2017 from 5pm-9pm. We had 7 raffle prizes (Pittsburgh Pirate tickets, a Yeti cooler, moonshine & wine baskets, an air fryer and 2 bicycles ) 50/50 drawing, and 4 cash prizes throughout the night. This years event featured Bubba and The Beard who provided a live stream at our event this year! Once again AJ Alexander from Straub Brewery was at this year's event providing samples of their beer brewed in nearby St Marys, PA. We were happy to have Betsy Wechtenhiser-Grill be the judge for the homemade wine at the Pork and Cork Festival. Betsy is retired from the Emporium Liquor Store. She has advanced training in wine tasting and has thirteen years judging experience. Music was provided by Darkwater Duo. Tickets again sold out!
We'd just like to say a huge and heartfelt Thank You to everyone who supported our incredible event that night. Vendors, sponsors and guests alike - the event would not have been what it was had any element been missing. It was truly an amazing evening. We are proud to be a part of a community as special as ours - and it is special, don't let anyone say it's not. We are immensely grateful for your support and we loved bringing this event to you!
